Did West VA Governor use fake charity?
Charity Fake News
From WOWKTV.COM news:
CHARLESTON, W. Va. – The 2016 West Virginia floods took a heavy toll in Greenbrier County, including the famed Greenbrier Resort which had been gearing to host its annual PGA golf tournament. So Greenbrier owner and then-candidate for Governor Jim Justice launched a new charity.
“You know we formed ‘Neighbors Loving Neighbors’ and they gave away millions of dollars…. You know I have 3 or 4 people different people in my organization that were just taking the monies in, and distributing the monies out,” said Gov. Jim Justice, (R) West Virginia.
But that charity – and whether it really, legally exists – is one reason why the U.S. Department of Justice has subpoened Governor Justice, his children and various current and former Greenbrier executives, along with hundreds of documents.
Charity Fakes
Whether tying themselves to a prominent cause or preying on compassion related to a natural disaster, “charity” fakes are a year-round plague. And “charity” fakers do double damage — they steal from you and they steal from those you want to help with your donated dollars.
Our own CharityCheck Directory Search for a West Virginia nonprofit with the word “Neighbors” in its name produce no results on April 22, 2019.

The key to avoiding charity fakes is to check if the group is recognized by the IRS as a nonprofit or charity. CharityCheck101.org helps you do that for free with its Directory Search and Reverse Lookup pages.
